My name is Rachelle (pronounced Ruh-shell). I am a both a Birth & Postpartum Doula practicing in the greater Snohomish County area in the incredibly beautiful Pacific Northwest! I am blessed to be a Mama to two amazing children (5 and 8 years old), married to a loving & supportive husband, and we have a dog and cat to complete our family. We love weekend adventures (especially outdoors), photography, being novice foodies, traveling, & spending time with our family.
My journey into the birth world started very early on in life, about 3 years old when my baby sister was born. I worried my own mother because I was very maternal and wanted to care for and carry my baby sister everywhere! Fast forward to 20 years old and through a medical emergency, we found I had a congenital uterine abnormality (Uterus Didelphys, in which I have 2 separate uteri & cervices). I was told by specialists that conception would be near impossible, miscarriage likely, and carrying full-term would be unheard of. I was absolutely crushed.
It took 7 medical providers to find the one that would encourage and support me. To give me hope. I conceived quickly and naturally at 29 years old, with a beautiful pregnancy and unmedicated vaginal delivery, delivering at 34 weeks. He did require a NICU stay and it took a long time to process not getting the birth story that I had dreamed of. Again at 33, I conceived naturally and delivered my daughter at 39 weeks via a footling breech, unmedicated vaginal delivery. My labor was less than an hour with a partial car delivery, again requiring some processing of how that birth turned out!
My own personal experiences of sadness, helplessness, hope, victory, unmedicated, zero-low intervention hospital births, maternal fetal medicine specialists, NICU stay, navigating a uterine abnormality with very little information, trouble with breastfeeding, successfully breastfeeding, preterm labor interventions, and the list goes on catapulted me Into the world of birth, maternal & postpartum care, NICU family support, patient advocacy, and evidence-based birth rather than fear-based birth.
That brings me to today, where I am so completely passionate about the role of a Doula and how I can support other families that may be experiencing some of the same trials & tribulations that I walked through myself. The significant difference being that I bring my skill set, knowledge, compassion, and deep understanding to support you in your own way- In the way that YOU need, desire, and see fit for your family. I would be honored to be that for you, your baby, and your family as we work together in your achievement of a beautiful birth &/or postpartum period experience, whatever that may look like for you.
With love and wellness,
Rachelle
